David is a sociologist based in the School of Sport and Health Sciences at Cardiff Metropolitan University. His main research interests use forms of sociological and education theory to address issues related to the socio-political reform of education, pedagogy, social equality and embodiment.
David’s previous research focused on the use of qualitative methodologies to explore how people experience forms of education within society. His research included theoretical and empirical studies within the fields of secondary physical education, vocational training and physical education teacher training.
The focus of his current research is to develop a better understanding of how education, sport and community organisations are responding to recent government reforms in education, sport and health policy in Wales. Future research will continue to develop interdisciplinary approaches to support local communities understand and confront the social, environmental and health problems facing society in the early 21st century.
