Welsh Crucible 2018
Carmen completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Milan and her PhD at the University of Kent. She is now working as a Senior Lecturer in English literature at Cardiff Metropolitan University with research and teaching expertise in the Romantic period.
Her most current research focuses on the transdisciplinary legacies of Romanticism in the arts and humanities, with particular reference to the construction of concepts of transnational sociability, nationhood, identity, and politics of migration, alongside present-day debates on global environmentalism.
Carmen is keen to explore ways to use Romantic literature in applied settings, including issues such as climate change and environmental sustainability and the dialectic between capital and globalization. She hopes to collaborate with experts in the humanities and social sciences and to enhance opportunities for fieldwork with museums, archives, and heritage organisations.
Carmen has now been promoted to Reader in English in the Cardiff School of Education and Social Policy, Department of Humanities at Cardiff Metropolitan University.
