Anouschka obtained her MA degree in English Language, Ancient History and Media Studies at Mannheim University in Germany. As part of her studies, she spent a year abroad teaching university-level German at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA. She then completed her MA and PhD degrees in Linguistics with a specialisation in Psycholinguistics at The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH, USA. She also worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the highly interdisciplinary Collaborative Research Centre “Alignment in Communication” at Bielefeld University in Germany. She was a Lecturer in Psycholinguistics at Bangor University, where her research focused on how non-native speakers process sentences as well as produce and comprehend prosody (the “melody” of languages). She is also worked on a project on how listeners perceive male and female speakers.
Anouschka is very keen to get more involved in impact-generating activities, in particular, in relation to linguistic discrimination.
Anouschka is now an Assistant Professor in English Linguistics in the Department of English Studies at the University of Graz.
